I play a Ra/Mo and am level 17.

All the time I will expert salvage drops. I get all kinds of good stuff too...for every other profession.

I have been trying to get ranger runes/bow strings etc. Whenever I find something that is specific to ranger, it always fails. I expert salvage a yellow or purple bow, I get planks. I expert salvage some stupid purple robe, I get the Stupendous Rune of Kill Everything for a mesmer.

I think the game has a code in it that makes sure you only are able to find cool stuff that you can't use.

Just a rant.

i just found a rune last night for my warrior... and an axe grip the other night... so i can answer u.. you're just plain unlucky..

Trade with other players. I teamed last night to do Frost Gate and swapped the warrior rune I got in a drop for a monk rune that I can use

I have the same problem... I can get all the dragon blade I want... but I can't get a max damage Bow that I need =( but on a positive note... I just sell the Swords and buy the bow =)

I dont think it is a conspiracy. I think it is actually part of the game. A way for GW to force replayability. I have a Warrior (lvl 16) who has yet to unlock any warrior item only ranger items. My friend is a Monk (lvl 20) who has yet to unlock any monk items only warrior items. My other characters are still too young to unlock stuff, but it is definetly a noticable trend.

There's no trend.. as i just said, my W/Mo unlocked 2 warrior items already... it's random.

Like I said, my friend has the warrior stuff I need. So it really isnt a problem in terms of items. It is a matter of unlocking things. He is frustrated b/c he hasnt unlocked any monk things for PvP and I am frustrated b/c I haven't unlocked any warrior things for PvP.

About the comment above saying that it is random. I am sure it is, it is just a noticable interesting dilemna. How about that, heh.

Well I'm ascended, infused, been to the Underworld and the Fissure, all that jazz - and I have NEVER found a max damage purple or gold bow. Not once. All the nice bows I have I bought or were given to me by guildmates. I have found awesome max damage purple & gold swords, axes, hammers, wands, staves, truncheons, cestas, you name it - everything BUT bows. That reminds me also... wtf is up with all the damned cestas that drop? Is it just me? I swear to god every 3rd or 4th item that drops is a damn cesta.

I agree. I think 90% of my drops are either cestas or some sort of hide.

The bow I have I traded for too. I would guess it is all totally random but it seems to be randomly against me.

I'm a monk/mesmer and I have yet to unlock a monk rune, mostly necro stuff. And most of the good equipment I find is for necros. The sad thing is I don't ever plan to play a necro primary. Right now a have a W/E and a Mo/Me my third will be a R/N, leaving one spot for PvP.

I've noticed that in some areas, certain mobs are more likely to drop certain items. Like in Perdition Rock, while I was fighting Phantoms (illusion mesmer mobs), I got an unusually high percentage of canes that required illusion magic. It pissed me off because I am a domination mesmer. Same with the Flesh Golems, I saw a lot of wands (?) with curses for the requirement.

Maybe you should switch up the types of mobs you hunt?

I tend to use henchmen for the most part. It is possible that they are conspiring against me, not the game itself. I now believe that they take all the drops they know I would want and leave all the crap for me. They figure I would never find out because I can't see the drops.

I've been all over. No bows worth mentioning, tons of cestas.
